Our Mission

We Do Fish Differently

Our Commitment:

Our mission is to improve the lives of the people and animals that feed us. We’re working at this by providing cooks and chefs at home or in fine-dining restaurants, access to ethically-raised fish from family farmers.

Local small-scale farmers want to supply consumers in urban areas, but lack the time, infrastructure, scale and resources to move all the cuts of an animal. That’s where Fish-For-Us comes in. We purchase whole fish and animals from farmers, work with small-scale processors to portion our protein sources, and sell every single part of the fish or poultry to people who want it.

We do our best to work better. We consider the impact our work has on our partners, employees, the community, and the environment. Our farmers are paid a significant and fixed premium over commodity prices for humanely raised animals. This ensures better lives for farmers, a better ecosystem for animals, and better food for all.

We think that makes sense.
Our Welfare Promise:
All of our farmers must meet strict welfare standards, from hatch to slaughter, in order to guarantee that our fish and poultry are treated as they should be for their entire lives. To ensure our standards get the results we want, we use species-specific, reliable, and valid outcome-indicators to evaluate our farms. By using animal-, input-, and practice-based standards that are observable and measurable we can make certain our animals are raised the right way whenever we set foot on our farms.
Below are the five freedoms, globally recognized be animal advocates as the gold standard in animal welfare.

Five Freedoms of Animal Welfare
Freedom from hunger and thirst.
Freedom from discomfort
Freedom from pain, injury and disease
Freedom to express normal behaviour
Freedom from fear and distress
